Advanced Country Blocking Implemented, Significantly Reducing Spam

gunsclassifieds_master — Thu, 04 Jan 2024 23:52:35 +0000

While we had various methods of country blocking enabled in the past, it was spotty and not as reliable as required.

Therefore, today we implemented a brand new, highly-advanced method of blocking traffic from all countries except the United States. This immediately had a measurable positive effect on network traffic and should make a significant difference in the amount of spam that sellers receive.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Spammers and scammers tend to find ways through, no matter what tools or policies are in-place. Please remember to always be diligent and safe.

FIXED: Contact Pages on Classifieds Sites

gunsclassifieds_master — Thu, 19 Jan 2023 16:21:50 +0000

We just successfully resolved an issue that was preventing the general contact form (from the CONTACT page) on every classifieds site from being able to be submitted.

This was preventing some of our users from being able to use the contact form to reach us with questions and/or requests. However, this is all fixed now.

Change To Significantly Reduce Email Spam Throughout Network

gunsclassifieds_master — Fri, 26 Aug 2022 21:36:40 +0000

The ability for interested users to contact sellers about their listed items is obviously extremely important. With that ability also comes the chance to receive a lot of spam. Therefore, we made a change today throughout all sites in the network that will significantly reduce the amount of email spam that sellers receive.

We officially retired / removed the “Contact Advertiser” button (and form) that previously allowed users to fill out and submit email messages directly through the website. This was removed because the feature was mostly being abused by spammers to send mass amounts of fake emails to sellers.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
When listing an ad, you must always enter in your preferred contact details (email, phone, etc.). Therefore, interested users can still easily contact sellers by simply reaching out via whatever contact method the seller entered when listing an item (phone / email / etc).
